Our client is a medium-sized organisation within the not-for-profit sector, based in Leicester.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive Strategic Procurement: Support the creation and implementation of innovative, value-driven procurement strategies.
  • Lead High-Value Procurements (£200k+): Manage full lifecycle using frameworks and DPS, ensuring legal compliance and strategic outcomes.
  • Deliver Mid-Value Procurements (£25k-£200k): Oversee compliant procurement processes across multiple categories and teams.
  • Guide Low-Value Procurements (under £25k): Provide expert support and advice to teams, acting as a trusted procurement partner.
  • Conduct Market Research: Strengthen commercial decisions with insight into markets, trends, and supplier landscapes.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Build strong relationships with suppliers, and internal teams to align goals and manage risk.
  • Manage Procurement Pipeline: Maintain oversight of upcoming projects, ensuring compliance and early risk identification.
  • Oversee Admin & Compliance: Handle contract awards, documentation, and supplier onboarding in line with policy.
  • Promote Best Practice: Attend industry events and contribute to continuous improvement and wider procurement activities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Procurement Officer should have:

  • 2 years minimum experience in Public Sector Procurement
  • Experience in leading large-scale procurement projects across various categories, including facilities management, repairs (both responsive and planned), development, and back-office solutions.
  • Experience and high-level knowledge of e-procurement portals and P2P systems.
  • Enhanced understanding and experience of Public Contracts Regulations and Procurement Bill 2023 and Procurement Act 2024.
  • Strong negotiation and strategic thinking skills.
