Senior Procurement Manager

Location: Scotland (Glasgow) Monklands Replacement

With a blank canvas, you will be instrumental in developing procurement strategies, policies, and processes. You will draw on your sub-contract and supply chain management skills to enhance the way we work together and deliver a collaborative relationship.

As a Senior Procurement Manager, you will work on the procurement strategy with the Procurement Lead. You will be responsible for the delivery of project procurement objectives and requirements. Duties include:

  • Member of both the project and senior management team, responsible for the delivery of Business Procurement objectives and requirements.
  • Provision and implementation of Project Procurement/Supply Chain/Category specific/strategic trades.
  • Provide market intelligence, cost advice, supply chain performance management, and feedback to Central Procurement and Work Winning.
  • Lead/support teams of Procurement professionals, including training & development, staff appraisals, retention & reward, and recruitment to provide an effective Procurement service for the Business.
  • Responsible and accountable for the Procurement process of subcontractors, materials, plant, and services, in accordance with the Project Procurement Strategy and LOR Values.
  • Ensure an ethical and consistent approach to the procurement of goods and services, complying with LOR corporate governance and Procurement best practices to meet current legislation.
  • Monitor markets and, where appropriate, provide alternative procurement strategies to maximize opportunities or minimize risk.
  • Provide management information and reports in accordance with business requirements.
  • Champion innovation and propose new or alternative methods, materials, products, and systems to increase competitive advantage and cost-effective solutions.
  • Attend Business Plan Review (BPR) and Senior Leadership team meetings as required.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Sub-Contract procurement, including scoping of sub-contracts
  • Negotiation skills
  • Legal & contracting law
  • Risk & opportunity management
  • Project procurement strategy

Supply chain planning

  • Experience working within the construction industry or similar, with knowledge of interfaces and relationships.
  • Ability to manage, plan, and structure operational procurement resources of varying experience and capability.
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Delivering robust procurement strategies.
  • Proven ability to deliver added value through procurement activities.

Experience of CIPS or working towards CIPS is desirable (or chartership in another discipline like CIOB or RICS). Relevant in-job experience will also be considered. Candidates should be able to access our offices in Dartford, Manchester, or Birmingham.
