Job Description
Senior Process Engineer
Location - Milan (or short-term UK remote - expected 4 to 6 months - possible extension with travel) - Travel to Vendor sites in Italy will be required.
Candidate Location: UK National work remote 4-6 months (must have right to work in the UK) OR Milan based (must have right to work in the EU)

    Phase: EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) Execution
    Reports to: Project Manager / Lead Process Engineer
1. Role Overview
The Senior Process Engineer will provide technical assurance, engineering oversight, and process discipline leadership during the EPC phase of the MOG Eni JV Structures A&E Project.

The role is focused solely on detailed engineering finalization, vendor package management, procurement support, fabrication oversight, and preparation for commissioning and start-up.

Experience in upstream oil and gas EPC delivery (major and minor projects) is essential, with an emphasis on offshore production facilities.

2. Key Responsibilities
A. Detailed Engineering & Technical Assurance
  • Review, validate, and approve detailed process engineering deliverables including:
    • Updated P&IDs, cause and effect diagrams, control philosophies, and process datasheets.
    • Vendor drawings and packaged equipment designs.
  • Provide technical guidance to EPC contractors, ensuring designs comply with project specifications, basis of design, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and manage contractor design changes, deviations, and non-conformances, ensuring proper approval processes are followed.
  • Ensure finalization of process design and readiness for construction, commissioning, and operations handover.
B. Vendor and Package Management
  • Lead technical reviews of vendor documentation for process equipment and packages (e.g., separators, gas treatment units, pumps, compressors).
  • Attend and witness key vendor activities such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and integrated system tests (SITs).
  • Manage interfaces between vendor packages and EPC contractor systems to ensure full integration.
  • Ensure that all vendor data is fully incorporated into project documentation and as-built records.
C. Process Safety and Risk Management
  • Actively participate in and lead EPC-phase process safety activities:
    • Close-out of outstanding HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL action items from detailed design.
    • Verification of process safety barriers and assurance of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) compliance.
  • Support preparation of commissioning and start-up safety assessments including Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
D. EPC Execution Support
  • Provide day-to-day process engineering support to the construction and fabrication teams as required.
  • Review construction queries (RFIs/TQs) related to process systems and issue technical dispositions.
  • Support multi-discipline design reviews and model reviews, ensuring process design integrity is maintained through fabrication and installation.
E. Commissioning and Start-Up Readiness
  • Contribute to the development of system commissioning procedures for process systems.
  • Support dynamic commissioning, early operations testing, and start-up troubleshooting from a process engineering perspective.
  • Ensure that the process systems meet performance and operability criteria during commissioning phases.
F. Documentation and Compliance
  • Review and approve EPC contractor and vendor final documentation for process systems, ensuring full compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage completion and turnover dossiers for process systems.
  • Ensure complete traceability of technical decisions, deviations, and risk mitigation actions.
3. Required Experience and Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in chemical or Process Engineering (mandatory).
  • Experience:
    • Extensive experience in EPC execution of upstream oil & gas facilities (offshore preferred).
    • Proven track record working on topside facilities, production separation systems, gas dehydration, produced water systems, etc.
    • Previous involvement in vendor package management during EPC.
  • Technical Competency:
    • Strong process engineering background including sizing, simulations, and detailed design finalization.
    • Familiarity with major industry standards (API, ISO, IEC, NORSOK) applied during EPC.
  • Process Safety Competency:
    • Experienced in managing HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA actions during EPC execution.
    • Skilled in applying operational risk management in late project phases.
  • Other Skills:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to work in a multi-discipline EPC environment and interface with contractors, vendors, and operations teams.
4. Deliverables
  • Approved final process deliverables including updated P&IDs, C&E matrices, and datasheets.
  • Completed technical reviews and approvals of vendor packages.
  • FAT attendance reports and inspection records.
  • HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA close-out reports.
  • Commissioning and start-up support documentation.
  • Process system turnover packages ready for commissioning and operations.
