Senior Primary Process Engineer

We are open to applicants looking for permanent, FTC or contract models of employment.

Main purpose of the job

Lead the advanced development of injection moulding and primary manufacturing processes, ensuring robust design, development, and industrialisation. Drive process excellence through the concept phase to ensure a robust handover to the Programme Launch team once nomination has successfully been secured, embedding continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Act as the technical authority for process engineering, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation while upholding Artifex values of Unity, Responsibility, Integrity, Pioneering, and Excellence.

Main missions and results
  • Lead the advanced development of injection moulding and primary manufacturing operations, ensuring capability, repeatability, and efficiency are incorporated into the pre-nomination phase.
  • Define process flows, tooling, and equipment specifications to meet product and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to influence design for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
  • Develop Foundation PFMEA, Control Plans, and process documentation to manage risk and ensure compliance.
  • Support proof of concept with robust process controls and validation techniques.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, scrap, and cost while improving quality and safety.
  • Lead problem-solving activities for process-related issues using structured methodologies (8D, A3).
  • Develop initial technical specifications and requirements for supplier RFQ process.
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Coach and mentor engineers and technicians to build process knowledge and capability across the organisation.
Preferred skills and experience
  • Extensive experience in automotive manufacturing processes with a focus on plastics and injection moulding.
  • Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, and process validation techniques.
  • Expertise in PFMEA development and risk management.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering; advanced qualifications desirable.
  • Auditing experience (ISO/IATF standards) preferred.
