Senior PowerBI Specialist

A global financial services organisation based in Dublin is seeking an experienced Contract Power BI Developer to join a high-profile project starting immediately. This role will play a key part in reviewing, optimising and enhancing a centralised Power BI semantic model used across the organisation. The role required to be in Dublin 2 days per week and 3 days from home.

The successful candidate will bring strong Power BI architecture expertise, with the ability to work independently, provide clear technical recommendations, and follow through with hands-on implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct a detailed review of the centralised Power BI semantic model and provide prioritised recommendations (High/Medium/Low)
• Improve dataset refresh automation, including orchestration with Snowflake workloads
• Analyse and reduce current refresh times (approximately 50 minutes) to improve scalability and performance
• Recommend best practices for CI/CD, deployment, parameterisation and model maintenance
• Optimise data model size and structure while maintaining business logic and usability
• Support the design of a controlled and repeatable release and change management process
• Contribute to Power BI standards, templates, wireframing and overall reporting quality
• Support knowledge sharing and training where required

Required Experience

• Strong experience with Power BI enterprise architecture and semantic models
• Advanced DAX, data modelling and report development skills
• Proven understanding of Kimball star schema design
• Experience delivering user-focused reports with strong data storytelling
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, regulated environment

Desirable Experience

• Snowflake experience
• Financial services or enterprise-scale environment background
