Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial Underwriting Department as a Senior Underwriter.

As a Senior Underwriter in the Commercial Portfolio Management and Change team, you will support the optimization of the commercial portfolio in AXA Ireland. You will act as an expert in relevant commercial classes of business, focusing on enhancing portfolio performance, managing risk, and driving profitability in line with strategic objectives.

You'll work majority of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our head office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you'll be doing:
  • Conducting performance analysis and reporting within the Commercial products using a variety of analytical and reporting tools.
  • Completing product performance reviews & benchmarking on individual classes and products.
  • Ad hoc deep dive analysis of portfolios to identify areas of concern and development of action plans.
  • Producing clear reports with findings and recommendations as requested.
  • Administration of exposure management and accumulation reporting solutions.
  • Third party provider engagement.
  • Support and management of various change projects to improve product offerings and performance.
  • Maintenance and refinement of product specification files for relevant classes and products.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve product offerings and strengthen underwriting rules, leading to enhanced performance and customer experience.
  • Evaluating market trends and offerings to ensure AXA is delivering value and market leading propositions for customers and broker partners alike.
  • Act as business lead or subject matter expert on cross functional projects.
  • Work with Trading Underwriting and Claims teams to understand issues within the business and identify & deliver solutions.
About You

What we're looking for:

  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in a relevant risk acceptance and rating environment is essential.
  • CIP Qualification essential, with MDI or ACII desirable.
  • Have a detailed understanding of underwriting, rating and acceptance criteria.
  • Capable of making quality risk assessment decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
  • Experience of working in teams and successful record of project delivery.

This role is an allocated Controlled Function under Fitness & Probity Regime, which means the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced level of background screening requirements.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
