The Role:Our client is recruiting a Senior Policy and Project Officer to join the Equalities team within the Communities & Skills Directorate. This role plays a key part in supporting the development, implementation and delivery of social policy programmes that align with the Mayor's priorities and address the needs of London's diverse communities. You will lead on equality-focused programmes and projects, manage external contracts, develop policy responses to emerging national developments, and work collaboratively. The position requires a proactive individual who can balance strategic policy input with hands-on programme delivery in a fast-paced, political environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Scope, develop and lead the delivery of programmes and projects related to equalities and social policy
- Provide strategic policy advice, analysis and briefings for senior stakeholders, including the Mayor
- Manage externally commissioned projects, suppliers and contract delivery
- Build partnerships across public, private, civil society and community organisations to inform policy
- Monitor legislative and policy developments affecting equalities and identify emerging issues
- Represent our client at meetings, events, conferences and through media communication
- Contribute to performance and risk reporting, ensuring programme targets are met
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusive practices across all activities
- Support cross-organisational working and multi-disciplinary project teams
- Expert knowledge of social policy, ideally within a London context
- Proven project management experience with ability to deliver to time and budget
- Experience working within political or multi-stakeholder environments
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate research into actionable policy
- Excellent communication skills-written reports, presentations, stakeholder engagement
- Experience managing partnerships and facilitating cross-sector collaboration
- Ability to work flexibly, problem-solve and adapt to changing priorities
