Job Description

The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland's national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.

We are looking for a Senior People Advisor to work within the People Directorate, in our HR Team, to ensure our culture and values support the engagement and wellbeing of our staff and foster their commitment to the success of SQA.

The successful candidate will deliver professional Human Resource Management (HRM), advice and guidance to managers and staff throughout the organisation. They will be required to lead, manage and support a range of employee relations situations, employee lifecycle activities, recruitment, HR transactions and administration, projects and HR initiatives, through to completion, in support of the delivery of strategy, operational plan and excellent customer service.

In order to do this, you must be able to demonstrate experience of the following:

Working in a front-facing HR advisory role, ideally within a multi-disciplinary environment. You'll have a strong track record of effectively managing complex and sensitive employee relations cases
An extensive understanding and practical application of employment law and ACAS best practice
The ability to confidently facilitate difficult conversations, influence stakeholders, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and relationship management skills
Adept at working independently, demonstrating resilience under pressure, and consistently meeting strict and often conflicting deadlines
Managing and navigating change initiatives, including restructures
Leading on HR policy development

Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 (Degree/ SVQ 4). You should also be CIPD qualified at Level 5 or possess an equivalent professional HR qualification or be actively working towards one.

This is a permanent post. This post can be based in Lowden or Optima, however regular travel between sites will be required.
