Job Description
Job Summary

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the end to end payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, in depth payroll knowledge, and the ability to handle complex payroll issues.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Execute full cycle payroll (fortnightly) for 700+ employees
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
  • Maintain and update payroll records in line with company policies
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (e.g., PAYE/PRSI/USC returns)
  • Maintain pension records and liaise with pension providers (Zurich)
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to internal stakeholders and external authorities
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Handle employee queries related to payslips, taxes, and deductions
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance teams regarding employee data changes
  • Support audits by providing payroll documentation and reports
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and systems
  • Mentor or supervise junior payroll staff where required
  • Perform ad hoc administrative duties as required
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • IPASS qualification
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience working as a Payroll Specialist in Ireland in a company with 300+ employees, ideally in a multinational corporation
  • Deep understanding of Irish taxation and Revenue regulations
  • High proficiency in Excel and payroll software (MegaPay a plus)
  • Experience of working with HR management systems (Workday a plus)
  • Collaborative approach with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities to strict deadlines
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive, solution oriented approach
