Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Paraplanner to join a professional and established financial planning team in Cambridge.
This is a key role within the business, providing high-quality technical and research support to Financial Planners and contributing to the delivery of comprehensive, compliant and client-focused financial advice.
The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent report-writing skills and the confidence to manage complex cases from research through to implementation. You will work closely with Financial Planners, taking ownership of cases and ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
This role would suit an experienced Paraplanner looking to take the next step in their career, or an established Senior Paraplanner who enjoys working on complex financial planning cases within a collaborative and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed financial planning and suitability reports for Financial Planners to present to clients
• Provide comprehensive technical and research support across complex financial planning cases
• Conduct detailed research into pensions, investments, protection, tax planning and other financial planning solutions
• Analyse clients' existing arrangements and financial circumstances against their objectives and requirements
• Assist Financial Planners with complex and high-value client cases
• Take ownership of cases from initial research through to report production and implementation
• Prepare clear, accurate and technically detailed recommendations and supporting documentation
• Support advisers with client reviews and ongoing financial planning requirements
• Research and assess pension, investment and product options from a range of providers
• Prepare illustrations, application forms, review packs and other supporting documentation
• Liaise with product providers, platforms and other third parties where required
• Assist with the implementation of recommendations and ensure cases progress within agreed timescales
• Maintain accurate, compliant and comprehensive client records and files
• Review work to ensure a consistently high level of accuracy, quality and regulatory compliance
• Keep up to date with changes to legislation, regulation, taxation and financial products
• Provide technical input and support to colleagues where appropriate
• Work closely with Financial Planners and the wider support team to ensure an efficient and professional client journey
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, procedures and the overall efficiency of the paraplanning function
• Comply with all relevant FCA, regulatory and internal procedures
About You
• Significant experience working within a financial advice or wealth management environment
• Proven experience as a Paraplanner, ideally at Senior Paraplanner level
• Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, retirement planning and wider financial planning
• Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning qualified as a minimum
• Strong understanding of suitability, compliance and FCA requirements
• Proven experience producing high-quality suitability and financial planning reports
• Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage complex cases independently and take ownership of your workload
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines
• Confident working independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and financial planning systems
• Professional, reliable and adaptable approach
• A genuine interest in financial planning and delivering excellent outcomes for clients
