Overview of the Role We are looking for a dynamic, commercially driven professional to work alongside the HOM and Merch Manager, leading and developing the Merchandising function for The Outnet, to support business growth, operational excellence, profitability and the evolving needs of the business. This role is vital in ensuring a smooth transition to new ownership. You will play a pivotal role in leading the wider business through this time of change. Key Responsibilities Planning, Trading & Performance Along with Senior buyer, define the Buying and Merchandising Strategy for your departments, communicating this effectively to wider business and be responsible for delivering this over the fiscal year. Partner closely with Buying counterparts to support opportunistic OTB decisions, aligned to trading needs. Drive sales, margin and stock turn performance across categories. Own full year brand planning with in-season reforecasting to reflect trade and supply opportunities / risks Develop and manage WSSI and OTB targets, working collectively on strategies to support sales and margin targets Manage intake flow into business to hit monthly forecasts, drive sales and minimise risks Team Be a leading voice within the merchandising team, striving to improve and challenge existing processes Identifies gaps in Merch projects & instigates, drives and implements process improvements for the business Demonstrate and reinforce the Company Vision and Values at all times Role model the company message to the team and the need to drive profitability Provide on the job coaching for direct reports and wider B&M team, ensuring that direct reports can meet and exceed the requirements of the role Monitor and review performance of direct reports, identify individuals who are ready for promotion or require performance improvement plans Alongside Merchandising Manager take appropriate corrective action with team members who fall below standard (in consultation with HR Department) Cross-Functional Collaboration & Ad-hoc tasks Builds and utilises strong cross functional relationships Partner with Buying, Commercial, Site trading and Marketing teams to drive your departments and the wider business Support and develop site merchandising strategies to optimise product visibility and conversion Actively seek out projects outside of day to day department mangement Who You Are Extensive relevant experience in fashion retail merchandising preferably with online and branded experience Numerate with strong analytical and computer skills Proven track record of creating positive impact on business through merchandising strategy Good judgement and decision-making skills, confidence in suggesting calculated risks Strong customer awareness and understanding Must have the confidence to contribute ideas to the team and working processes - even those outside your day-to-day remit Experience managing supporting and developing a team Highly organised and efficient, with strong multitasking skills and attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Champion of operational efficiency, driven by process and attention to detail Flexible, adaptable, and willing to pivot within the role based on the needs of the business Strong stakeholder management skills, placing an emphasis on cross functional relationships and collaboration A natural problem solver who takes initiative, is proactive and enjoys being resourceful.
