The role

As a Senior Operational Technology Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be part of a dynamic team at the forefront of engineering, IT, and cyber resilience. Working within our Electrical Control and Instrumentation (C&I) team, you'll manage and modernise the IT infrastructure that supports critical systems across both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.

Day-to-day, you'll make a real impact on national defence and infrastructure, while developing your career in a role that blends hands-on engineering with strategic IT support.

• Managing software, hardware, and IT support functions for operational assets
• Specifying and maintaining PC-based systems and virtual machines
• Overseeing software licensing, patching, and version control
• Advising internal stakeholders on operational technology and cyber security
• Diagnosing and resolving system failures across critical infrastructure

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Senior Operational Technology Engineer

• Strong expertise in computer hardware, operating systems (legacy and current), and system maintenance.
• Skilled in diagnosing and repairing computer system failures, including server and RAID support.
• Capable of independently managing and upgrading operational technology assets.
• Experience with OT upgrades (e.g., DCS, PLCs, HMIs) - desirable.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices - desirable.

Qualifications for the Senior Operational Technology Engineer

• A degree in a computer-related field or significant experience in an IT for OT-related role

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
