Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Reigate (Hybrid role, mainly home-based with occasional travel to site)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 4 months
Rate: £250/day
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a local authority in Reigate, supporting them on a crucial project. This 4-month contract offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the implementation of new internet access and WAN services, ensuring seamless connectivity and reliability for the local authority.
Project Outline:
- Assist in the implementation of new BT Internet connections at 2 sites, with 2 BT short haul circuits between these sites, ensuring full redundancy.
- Configure layer 2 switching to manage failover of the Internet link to the other site in case of failure.
- Support the migration of current Internet and WAN connections to the new solution.
- Renew the Public Sector Network (PSN) certification.
- Implement a third-party solution for PSN access to GCSX data.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and manage firewalls and routers, particularly Fortinet and Juniper devices.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of TCP/IP network design and implementation, including routing protocols OSPF and BGP.
- Oversee the Public Sector Network (PSN) certification process.
- Collaborate with third-party suppliers, particularly BT, to ensure seamless integration and service delivery.
- Maintain excellent documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Execute network cutovers from old to new services efficiently and with minimal disruption.
- Utilise experience in Local Government or NHS environments to provide insights and solutions tailored to our specific requirements.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in configuring and managing firewalls and routers, with proficiency in Fortinet and Juniper devices.
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP network design and implementation, including OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
- Familiarity with the Public Sector Network (PSN) certification process.
- Ability to effectively manage and collaborate with third-party suppliers, particularly BT.
- Strong documentation skills to maintain accurate records throughout the project.
- Experience in executing network cutovers from old to new services.
- Desirable: Previous experience in Local Government or NHS environments.
