The Senior Naval Architect will work on basic and concept vessel design projects, with a specific focus on stability studies and statutory compliance assessments.

What will you be doing?

  • Undertake intact and damaged (deterministic and probabilistic) stability analysis and simulations of marine operations as required.
  • Support our Ship Design team with vessel design at concept and basic design levels.
  • Manage assigned client ship design projects in terms of safety, quality, schedule, and resources.
  • Undertake technical consultancy work as required. Perform day-to-day client management activities with existing clients.
  • Partake in activities to promote Longitude Engineering and ABL Group, develop new clients, and contribute to tendering activities.
  • Develop existing and new technical competencies in alignment with the business needs.
  • Undertake project planning, invoicing, and cash collection activities.
  • Identify personal training requirements to develop technical competence and support the training and development of engineers within the team.
  • Comply with current revisions of all internal policies, procedures and guidelines and follow the requirements of the HSEQ management systems.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will be an experienced Naval Architect with a proven background in leading concept and basic design projects. You will have had exposure to several different vessel types and proven experience of undertaking stability assessments and checking that designs meet statutory requirements. We are also looking for the following:

  • Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline relevant to the role.
  • A minimum of 5 years' worth of experience in the marine and / or offshore energy industry.
  • Possess proven experience in vessel design, including at concept and basic design levels.
  • Familiar with Class and Flag rules.
  • Able to select and apply the latest standards, guidelines, methods, and techniques to analytical methods.

Further Information:

We can base this position at our offices in Exeter, Southampton or London . We offer hybrid working and expect the job holder to attend the office 3 days a week.
