Senior modelling and data engineer

AM-Team is a digital changemaker that provides leading modelling and data services and digital twin solutions that tackle the water industry's biggest issues. We help water utilities, industrial end users, engineering and consultancy firms and (digital) technology vendors throughout the various stages of technology development, planning, design and operation. The big issues we focus on are climate change adaptation and mitigation, meeting regulatory demands, maximisation and future-proofing of treatment assets, overcoming workforce bottlenecks and obtaining actionable digitalisation at the treatment side. Our unique 'model-fit-for-purpose' approach allows us to smartly combine different modelling solutions, including mechanistic (such as dynamic and computational fluid dynamics models), data-driven (such as statistical models and machine learning) and hybrid approaches.

We're looking for a water-passioned person who loves combining the water and wastewater treatment side with data, models and digital twins. This role focuses on translating models and data into real value for end customers at a global scale. Beyond the buzz. You will be working in our technical team and will also be interacting regularly with our sales team.

Responsibilities

• Project execution & delivery: senior execution role in modelling and digital twin projects & delivery of the project outcomes to the customers in the shape of reports and presentations. Typically, project execution involves:

o understanding project objectives and timelines, and working collaboratively,

o gathering and processing of relevant data,

o organising client meetings and preparing presentations & reports,

o supporting other team members with expert knowledge.

• Digital twin development and delivery: In collaboration with the internal team and external partners, establish fully operational digital twins of the treatment side.
• Technical communication & dissemination: internal & external communication during projects and at international events or in online webinars. Writing technical abstracts or articles and technical blogs, and whitepapers.
• Research & development: developing new modelling solutions tailored to market needs in close collaboration with the team. Workflow development for existing solutions.
• Coaching & training: continuous learning & improving through active training. Also, technical coaching of others.

Job requirements

Our new colleague:

• Has at least 3 years of water or wastewater industry or relevant academic experience related to working with data, mechanistic modelling or hybrid modelling projects.
• Has an MSc in (environmental/bioscience or relevant) engineering. Has a strong understanding of water treatment processes and associated modelling/data handling of those.
• Preferably has specific expertise in data science applications for (waste)water treatment
• Is willing to work from our office in Ghent, Belgium
• Has good communication skills and can explain complex matters to customers
• Is fluent in English, both written and oral - knowledge of another language is a plus
