Overview:

An established and forward-thinking Building Services Consultancy based in Kent is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing MEP team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take a lead role on a range of complex projects across sectors including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical building services design and a proven track record of managing projects from concept through to completion. The consultancy offers a supportive, technically driven environment with excellent progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design on a range of building services projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Deliver high-quality design work using relevant software such as Hevacomp, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or IES.
  • Oversee the preparation of specifications, reports, and drawings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to team development.
  • Attend design and coordination meetings, site inspections, and liaise with contractors as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of current industry standards, regulations, and innovations.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent experience).
  • Chartered or working toward Chartership with CIBSE or IMechE preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years' UK consultancy experience in building services.
  • Proficient in mechanical design and calculations across HVAC, hot/cold water systems, ventilation, and renewables.
  • Experience using design software such as Hevacomp, Revit MEP, IES, and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred for site travel).
