Senior Manager, Enterprise Systems and Automations
Posted 2 days 12 hours ago by Datavant Corporation
Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. Guided by our mission to make the world's health data secure, accessible and actionable, we provide critical data solutions for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem - including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies. From fulfilling a single patient's request for their medical records to powering the AI revolution in healthcare, Datavant is building the future of how data is connected and used to improve health.
The Senior Manager, Enterprise Systems & Automations is Datavant's first dedicated engineering leader for a portfolio of enterprise platforms that our products and operations depend on daily. This includes centralized authentication, RPA and intelligent automation, contact center AI, managed file transfer (MOVEit), and enterprise integration/interoperability tooling (MuleSoft). Today, these capabilities are spread across multiple teams with no single owner. This role establishes clear, unified ownership, bringing together fragmented operational responsibility into a cohesive function with dedicated staffing, defined SLAs, and a prioritized, multi quarter architectural roadmap. The Senior Manager is expected to operate hands on while simultaneously building the team and processes required to sustain operations at scale.
This is not a governance only role. The Senior Manager will work hands on daily, diagnosing issues, making architecture and vendor decisions, and leading incident response, while building the team and processes required to run critical enterprise systems at scale in a regulated healthcare environment.
Enterprise Authentication Platform- Own architecture, operations, and roadmap for the centralized authentication platform serving Datavant's product portfolio
- Drive evolution toward multi tenancy, RBAC/ABAC, and cross product SSO for external users
- Partner with Product Engineering and Security to ensure the platform absorbs new products, acquired user populations, and evolving compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2) without bottlenecks
- Establish monitoring and incident response appropriate for critical path infrastructure where downtime blocks product access
- Own the RPA function end to end: bot development, operational monitoring, vendor management, and the automation pipeline
- Manage the vendor ecosystem including contract lifecycle, SOW management, and PHI/PII compliance enforcement. Drive accountability through clear SLAs
- Establish change management, testing, and monitoring standards that prevent silent failures in healthcare data workflows
- Evaluate modern automation approaches (AI assisted automation, intelligent document processing) where they outperform traditional RPA
- Own engineering direction for contact center AI, partnering with operations to identify high value automation opportunities
- Guide the team's technical approach across conversational AI, intelligent routing, call summarization, and agent assistance, grounded in production readiness
- Manage build vs buy decisions across cloud AI services, commercial CCaaS platforms, and custom capabilities
- Ensure solutions handling patient data meet healthcare compliance requirements with appropriate human in the loop safeguards
- Own MOVEit, MuleSoft, and related interoperability and managed file transfer platforms: reliability, security, and performance for compliance sensitive data movement
- Drive the file transfer roadmap: modernization, technical debt reduction, and scaling for growing volumes and new client onboarding
- Reduce reliance on institutional knowledge by establishing clear ownership, monitoring, and incident response processes
- Partner with Product and Client Operations to define and enforce file transfer SLAs
- Build and lead a cross functional team spanning authentication, automation, AI, and integration disciplines
- Manage a mixed model of internal engineers and external vendors/contractors with clear accountability, knowledge transfer requirements, and transition planning
- Establish consistent operations (on call, runbooks, incident management, and capacity planning) to reduce key person risk
- Represent enterprise systems within the broader engineering organization, contributing to investment priorities and M&A integration planning
- 7+ years in software/platform engineering or enterprise systems, including 3+ years leading teams that deliver platform capabilities
- Experience managing a diverse portfolio of enterprise systems. Comfortable context switching across authentication, automation, AI, and integration domains
- Strong understanding of identity and access management: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, RBAC/ABAC, and multi product authentication architectures
- Experience with automation technologies: RPA platforms (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or equivalent), workflow orchestration, or intelligent automation at scale
- Experience managing vendor/contractor ecosystems, including SOW management, performance accountability, and compliance enforcement
- Strong incident management instincts, effective under pressure with both technical teams and business stakeholders
- Experience in regulated environments (healthcare, financial services, or government)
- Track record of taking ownership of fragmented operational areas and building them into well run functions
- Competitive, equitable salary
- Comprehensive benefits
- Pension contribution
- Flexible, hybrid work environment
