Job Description

Join a leading financial institution and play a key role in protecting millions of payment transactions every day. We're looking for a Senior Linux/Platform Engineer to help modernise and support a mission-critical fraud detection platform, working on high-availability infrastructure where performance, stability, and controlled change are essential.

Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid)
Contract: Long-term Assignment
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Linux/Platform Engineer to join a leading financial institution in Brussels, supporting a mission-critical payment fraud detection platform.

This is an opportunity to work on one of the bank's most important payment systems, where platform stability, performance, and controlled change management are essential. You'll be part of a team responsible for modernising a complex Legacy environment while ensuring uninterrupted payment processing.

If you enjoy solving challenging infrastructure problems and improving highly available enterprise platforms, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

The fraud detection platform runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and powers Real Time payment fraud detection. While the platform is stable, years of technical debt, limited documentation, and inconsistent governance have made ongoing maintenance and enhancement increasingly complex.

Key initiatives include:

  • Modernising and stabilising a mission-critical fraud detection platform.
  • Improving change management, release governance, and deployment processes.
  • Resolving infrastructure and storage bottlenecks.
  • Enhancing data flows into the Event Data Record (EDR).
  • Optimising platform performance to meet strict low-latency SLAs (sub-50ms processing).
  • Supporting ongoing platform remediation following previous infrastructure changes.
  • Introducing greater standardisation, governance, and operational best practices.
  • Delivering new platform capabilities, including expanded data availability and statistical profiling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain a critical Linux-based fraud detection platform.
  • Drive best practices for Change Management and controlled production deployments.
  • Design and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Support incident management, troubleshooting, and platform stabilisation.
  • Monitor and optimise platform performance.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, database, and application teams.
  • Support structured implementation of new platform features and data changes.
  • Contribute to ongoing platform modernisation initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

We're looking for an experienced platform engineer with strong enterprise infrastructure experience, including:

  • Strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration.
  • Experience supporting business-critical production environments.
  • Change Management and release governance expertise.
  • CI/CD design and deployment automation experience.
  • Incident Management in complex production environments.
  • Container technologies:
    • OpenShift
    • Kubernetes
    • Podman
  • Event Data Record (EDR) knowledge.
  • Monitoring and observability tools.
  • Database administration and troubleshooting.
  • Apache Kafka.
  • IBM MQ/AMQ messaging.

Desirable Experience

  • Real Time Decision Systems (RTDS).
  • Financial services, payments, or fraud detection platforms.
  • High-availability payment infrastructures.
  • Low-latency performance optimisation.
  • Modernising large-scale Legacy enterprise platforms.

About You

You are a senior engineer who remains calm under pressure and enjoys working on systems where reliability, resilience, and operational excellence are paramount.

You understand the importance of controlled change within payment environments and are passionate about introducing structure, automation, and engineering best practices into complex technical landscapes.

Alongside strong technical expertise, you bring excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and enjoy working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

What's on Offer

  • Long-term project with a leading financial institution.
  • Hybrid working in Brussels.
  • Opportunity to work on a highly visible, mission-critical payment platform.
  • Training on the RTDS platform provided by the implementation partner.
  • Challenging technical environment with significant modernisation initiatives.

If you're an experienced Linux/Platform Engineer looking to make an impact on critical payment infrastructure, we'd like to hear from you.
