The Senior Legal Technologist plays a pivotal role in how the firm adopts, embeds and realises value from Legal Technology. In addition to delivering complex projects, the role acts as a trusted advisor to practice groups, identifying opportunities, diagnosing workflow challenges, and ensuring stakeholders feel supported, informed and confident in their use of legal technology tools. This position requires proactive communication, exceptional reliability, commercial thinking and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
The role sits within the Legal Technology team in the Information Technology (IT) department and reports to the Head of Legal Technology alongside three other Senior Legal Technologists, each aligned to one of the Firm's divisions. This role supports the Construction, Real Estate and Disputes (CRED) division, and works closely with Legal Project Management, Knowledge, Business Development and other business teams to support the division's strategic goals.
Roles and Responsibilities Project and Technology Delivery- Manage and deliver Legal Technology projects in response to business needs, meeting agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Act as first line or escalation support for technology queries, with a particular focus on commercial property matters and related practice groups in the Construction, Real Estate and Disputes division.
- Promote, grow and support usage of Legal Technology tools across the firm, providing structured onboarding, coaching and tailored training.
- Develop clear processes for the introduction, adoption and embedding of Legal Technology.
- Act as subject matter expert for the Legal Technology stack, demonstrating an understanding of its application to the Division's matter types and day to day work.
- Ensure value from existing software while monitoring the market for new opportunities with particular focus on property tools including (but not limited to) Orbital Witness, InfoTrack, SearchFlow, Landscape SDLT.
- Proactively work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for the use of technology and other business improvements.
- Work collaboratively with IT, Legal Project Management and Process Improvement to deliver practical, scalable solutions.
- Build a strong reputation as a proactive, reliable point of contact; ensure stakeholders trust that actions and follow ups are handled without prompting.
- Set priorities with senior stakeholders in line with the Firm's and relevant Division's requirements and strategies.
- Support partners and fee earners articulating the firm's legal tech capabilities and delivering client facing technology demonstrations.
- Actively listen, record and track actions from meetings, support interactions and vendor discussions, ensuring nothing is missed.
- Provide regular updates to users, project teams and practice leaders, managing expectations with clarity and diplomacy.
- Follow up with fee earners and business services to ensure consistent engagement with tools and workflows.
- Adopt a commercially minded approach - analyse usage, identify opportunities for efficiency or client value, and articulate benefits clearly.
- Support fee earners with business development, pitches, demonstrations and client facing materials.
- Build and maintain case studies evidencing workflow improvements, time savings and ROI.
- Produce and interpret usage data to inform decisions and contribute to technology investment discussions.
- In addition to the specialist property tools listed above, demonstrate hands on expertise across the firm's Legal Technology ecosystem, including (but not limited to): HighQ, Docusign, Miro, Document Drafter, Harvey AI (or equivalent tools), process mapping tools, and structured data/automation platforms.
- Keep abreast of emerging tools and vendor roadmaps, communicating insight to the wider team.
- Ability to confidently understand and advise on which tool should be used for which task/matter.
- Support the Head of Legal Technology with task prioritisation, diary planning for critical technology meetings, vendor relationships and strategic initiatives.
- Take ownership of tracking and progressing actions, risks and milestones in day to day work, engaging with relevant stakeholders, managing scope creep and escalating as needed.
- Act as a change agent, championing innovation and promoting new ways of working with legal technology aligned to the Firm's strategic vision.
- Work collaboratively with Learning & Development, technology vendors and the Head of Legal Technology to develop and ensure smooth delivery of training, sessions for internal users and, where necessary, clients.
- Work closely with the Process Improvement team and LPMs to design, evaluate and update legal workflows.
- Identify inefficiencies in matters and ways of working, propose automation opportunities and collaborate on operational enhancements.
- Ensure technology solutions align with real world legal processes across diverse practice areas.
- Deliver high quality training, drop ins, presentations and 1:1 technology coaching tailored to user's needs.
- Develop clear, accessible materials including guides, tip sheets, e learning and onboarding packs.
- Support trainees, juniors and new joiners to build confidence and capability in using Legal Technology.
- Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations and Principles.
- Able to work autonomously and with minimal supervision, taking ownership of complex technical projects from inception to delivery, and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance legal processes through technology.
- Experience and proficiency in the use of HighQ, Docusign, Miro, Document Drafter, Harvey AI, Orbital Witness, InfoTrack, SearchFlow, Landscape SDLT or similar tools supporting legal advisory, transactional and disputes matters.
- Significant experience supporting or delivering Legal Technology solutions within a law firm.
- Solution oriented, with a strong aptitude for working with new technologies and understanding how lawyers work.
- Experience of managing and delivering projects.
- Comfortable with systems, analytics and interpreting data.
- Excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and outstanding attention to detail.
- Able to influence, build rapport and act with credibility across all levels of the firm.
- Commercially minded with the ability to articulate value and business impact.
