Job Overview

Assist with strategic and operational support for the office of the General Counsel. Provide counsel in one or more of the following areas: contract law, employment law, commercial law, regulatory or compliance.

Essential Functions
  • Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and organizational policies.
  • Monitor the contract process to assure compliance with the organization's contractual guidelines, ensuring satisfaction of customers and vendors; participate in pre contract discussions, negotiations and changes.
  • Act as a Legal Partner to one or more IQVIA Business Units, providing strategic legal support on key customer issues, market dynamics, M&A opportunities and process improvements.
  • Provide legal advice regarding employment law and liaise with Human Resources on issues related to the organization's human capital; monitor implications regarding discrimination, sexual harassment, health and safety, hiring and firing, and other employee rights.
  • Advise and represent the organization on legal matters concerning patent, copyright, trademark, real estate or privacy; assess legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting a lawsuit, prepare files, and take cases to trial if out of court settlements cannot be reached.
  • Assess impact of case outcomes and initiate steps to implement any resultant changes.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (or equivalent) and an active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 10 years in house legal department, law firm and/or other relevant legal experience.
  • Effective organizational, planning, project management, communication, presentation, interpersonal, pragmatic problem solving and influence skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and/or drug development process preferred.
  • Working knowledge of data protection, privacy, and related laws and regulations preferred.
  • Ability to engage in complex problem solving, hard working and results oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Skilled in using MS Office Suite: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
