Job Description

The Senior Legal Counsel role focuses on sophisticated transactional matters, general corporate legal and business matters, and litigation management. This position is a trusted advisor to various functions and an active participant on local and global projects. The Senior Legal Counsel will often mentor attorneys at the Legal Counsel level.

Responsibilities
  • Advising assigned clients regarding any and all other legal issues.
  • Interacting with senior leadership on key corporate transactions by providing prompt, commercial oriented advice.
  • Handling complex commercial contracting matters, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing a variety of contracts for various business areas.
  • Managing litigation, arbitration, settlement negotiations and outside legal resources.
  • Assisting with acquisitions, divestitures and restructurings.
  • Collaborating, facilitating, and implementing legal and risk management strategies with assigned business units.
  • Developing and implementing best practices, including proactive development of forms, templates, and training materials to streamline transactional processes.
  • Acting as a resource/mentor for other members of the team.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or requested by senior management.
  • Developing and providing training to business clients.
Qualifications
  • English law qualified lawyer with 6+ years PQE.
  • Strong negotiation, oral and written communication, presentation, training, organisational and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to lead with strong organisational, time management, and project management skills, including experience developing creative solutions to transactional problems.
  • Strong commercial transaction experience and demonstrated expertise in sophisticated transactional matters, negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts.
  • Experience managing litigation and outside counsel.
  • General understanding of laws and regulations relating to patient/data privacy, corporate compliance, anti corruption and anti competition.
  • Knowledge of the Medical Device Industry, including regulatory knowledge (FDA, MDR, etc.) is a plus.
  • Sound and relatively broad knowledge of general business and commercial contract law.
