We are working with a PE backed technology company who are a leading global provider of managed internet and cloud connectivity solutions seeks a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to join its expanding legal team. This organisation delivers critical connectivity services to enterprises and government entities worldwide, facilitating seamless and optimised internet performance. Role Overview:
The Senior Legal Counsel will serve as a key member of the legal department, providing comprehensive legal expertise across a broad spectrum of areas, including corporate governance, complex commercial contracts (B2B/B2C), technology and telecommunications law, regulatory compliance, employment law, and risk management. This individual will collaborate closely with senior leadership and external legal partners to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks. Reporting directly to the General Counsel based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the Senior Legal Counsel will contribute to legal support across Europe and the Americas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice and support across all organisational functions, encompassing contracts, corporate governance, employment matters, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to minimise risk and ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Serve as a multi-disciplinary advisor to internal departments on commercial and legal matters.
- Negotiate, draft, and review complex international commercial agreements.
- Support Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and product development initiatives.
- Identify and assess commercial and legal risks associated with proposed transactions and projects.
- Deliver commercial/legal contract training to relevant internal teams.
- Monitor evolving legal and regulatory landscapes within assigned regions, providing timely advice and implementing necessary actions.
- Identify the need for external legal counsel and manage relationships with outside firms, including budget oversight.
- Collaborate with global internal departments (e.g., procurement, product development, solution engineering) to address global legal issues and ensure consistent legal guidance.
- Provide general support to the General Counsel.
Qualifications:
- UK or US qualified lawyer.
- Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification legal experience, gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
- Demonstrated experience in the IT, telecommunications, or systems integration (SI) sectors is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in negotiating, drafting, and managing complex commercial contracts.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, commercial law, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of legal issues within a dynamic and international business environment.
- Strong business acumen and client-focused approach.
- Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable, with the ability to manage ambiguity and prioritise effectively.
