What you'll do

This Senior Large Loss Claims Technician role could be a great fit for a legal executive, solicitor, or experienced large loss specialist looking to take full ownership of complex motor claims. You will be responsible for mitigating against claims leakage through the experienced and proficient handling of high-value motor claims-mainly in excess of £50,000-and managing litigation across a portfolio of complex cases. Assessing liability accurately in these large loss motor claims is essential to achieving successful outcomes.

You'll be working on:
  • Own and drive complex, high-value personal injury and fatality claims end-to-end.
  • Deliver expert liability and quantum assessments across intricate, high exposure cases.
  • Maintain accurate reserving with clear reporting to senior stakeholders and reinsurers.
  • Lead strategic negotiations to secure efficient, commercially strong settlements.
  • Manage litigation, partnering with top tier solicitors, counsel, and technical experts.
  • Identify and mitigate fraud risks, protecting against exaggerated or complex claims.
Build trusted reinsurer relationships through clear, timely large loss reporting.
We don't have a definite checklist of skills - our hiring process is much more about aptitude and passion than ticking boxes. So don't worry if you haven't used a particular tool or checked off all the listed skills and experience.

That said, below is a guideline of skills that we think would make you successful in this role:

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Exceptional Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to clearly articulate ideas and strategies to diverse stakeholders.
  • Handling Experience: Adaptability to manage gradle-to-grave claims across varying coverages, including Bodily Injury (BI), Credit Hire, and Property damage.
  • Legal and Claims Expertise: Deep knowledge and hands on experience managing litigation in a legal exec, solicitor, or large loss specialist capacity.
  • Liability Assessment Experience: Proven ability to assess liability in complex large loss motor claims and make defensible, strategic decisions.
  • Attention to Detail & Task Management: Proven ability to independently manage tasks, stay structured, and provide support to the team.
  • Customer Focused Problem Solving: Commitment to delivering tailored solutions aligned with customer outcomes and expectations.
  • Proactive Decision Making: Comfortable taking a forward thinking, assertive approach rather than waiting to react-driving strong claim outcomes and reducing leakage.
You'll love it here if:
  • You're ambitious and want to grow in an environment where your impact is recognised and rewarded.
  • You value ownership-making decisions, driving outcomes, and learning through doing.
  • you value a solicitor who takes the time to explain the 'why' behind their legal advice, not 'what' you do next.
  • You're excited by structured support, strong training, and the freedom to play to your strengths while developing new ones.
  • ️ You believe in full claims ownership (gradle to grave) and want to see the real impact of your work.
You may not enjoy working here if:
  • You prefer rigid roles, minimal collaboration, or being told exactly what to do.
  • You're uncomfortable owning decisions or navigating high value, complex claims.
  • You find a performance driven, fast paced environment overwhelming.
Collaborating with AI: At INSHUR, we see AI as a powerful collaborator. We use technology to innovate, and our hiring process is no exception. For us, AI is a tool to enhance our processes and help you showcase your best self-we never use it to make the final hiring decision. We actively encourage you to use AI tools to help you shine, and you can learn more about how we collaborate with AI, and our tips for how you can too, here.

What to expect from the process:

All stages are meant to be a two way conversation. We are happy to address any concerns and answer any questions you have.
  • Screen & Intro: 30 minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience.
  • First Interview: 60 minute video call to test your technical knowledge and team fit with the Head of Claims and People Team.
  • Final Stage: 90 minute in person assessment involving a scenario based task and team fit interview.
We encourage you to ask questions about the role and the company throughout the hiring process. We believe that this is as much an opportunity for you to interview us as it is for us to interview you.

What we offer

We offer all our employees stock options and we will pay into your pension monthly. We've also built a benefits package that invests in our people's long term personal and professional growth and wellbeing. Here's a sample of what this includes:
