An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior IT Project Manager to join our IT team at Hampshire County Council.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamicSenior IT Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of large and complex projects across a diverse portfolio. This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while aligning with strategic business goals.

Our Projects and Programmes Team is a busy and dynamic change function, supporting the departments of the authority to deliver transformation, savings, and service improvements whist working within formal governance structures and processes.

What you'll do:
  • Deliver large and complex projects, delivering outcomes that meet the requirements of the Council and its service users
  • Lead all stages of the projects, developing strong relations with the key project stakeholders, project board members, suppliers and customers
  • Deliver project documentation and communications to a high standard
  • Provide expert information and advice on potential project approaches in response to customer/corporate requirements
  • Demonstrate strong control of the project delivery, including:

- Agreeing scope, budget and projects tolerances

- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress

- Identify, monitor and forecast all costs related to the project and resulting BAU services

- Identify and monitor project dependencies

- Identify and manage any project risks, and issues, providing appropriate controls and escalation

- Manage project resources, within IT, in wider HCC directorates, or with 3rd party suppliers

- Smooth transition of projects into business as usual (BAU) via the Service Design & Transition Board (SD&T)

As a senior member of the team, you will:

- Provide line management of other project staff as required

- Provide mentoring to less experienced project managers as required

- Contribute to and support a culture of Continuous Service Improvement.

You will be creative and innovative, with strong competence in financial management and ability to present and report to senior management. You will also be self-motivated and committed to ongoing personal development.

As well as being the driving force behind project delivery, you'll be capable of maintaining a responsive and effective working relationship with colleagues and customers across the business representing and upholding the integrity and effectiveness of the IT Department.
