Senior Payroll Manager - 6 Month Contract - Teddington (Onsite) - Up to £450 per day

The opportunity

IN2 Consult is seeking a senior interim Payroll Process Improvement Specialist to stabilise and optimise its payroll operation following a recent migration from Access Payroll to ADP HCM i.

The payroll team operates in a high-volume environment with complex, commission-based pay structures. While the transition is progressing, there remains a need to reduce manual work, strengthen controls, resolve process issues and ensure the business is getting the maximum value from ADP.

This is a hands-on role for a self-sufficient payroll systems and process-improvement specialist who can quickly assess current ways of working and implement practical, scalable improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Review end-to-end payroll processes following the move from Access Payroll to ADP HCM i.
• Identify and resolve operational pain points, inefficiencies and control risks.
• Improve use of ADP functionality, workflows and automation.
• Reduce dependency on manual, Excel-heavy and email-led processes.
• Design and implement more scalable payroll processes and controls.
• Support payroll activity involving complex commission calculations and variable pay structures.
• Work closely with the Payroll team and Head of Payroll to embed sustainable improvements.
• Document improved processes and provide practical knowledge transfer to the internal team.

Essential experience

• Strong, hands-on experience with ADP HCM i.
• Proven payroll process-improvement or transformation experience.
• Experience working with complex commission, incentive or variable-pay calculations.
• Background in a high-volume, fast-paced or scaling organisation.
• Demonstrable examples of automating or improving manual payroll processes.
• Comfortable working independently, diagnosing issues and delivering solutions at pace.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.

Desirable experience

• Experience of a payroll-system migration or post-implementation stabilisation.
• Exposure to Access Payroll and/or a transition from Access Payroll to ADP.
• Experience building controls, reporting or workflows around payroll data.
• Previous interim or consultancy assignments in payroll transformation.
