Job Description
You've done the Azure migration once. Do it again, but this time lead it. Most infrastructure ads treat on-prem experience like a guilty secret. Not here. This is a genuinely hybrid estate, on-prem and Azure side by side, and the business needs someone who is confident in both: someone who has lived through a migration to Azure and knows what breaks, what to move, and what to leave well alone. Why this role, and why now This is the step-up role. You'll lead the day-to-day across infrastructure and platform operations (Azure, M365 and the on-prem estate), and you'll coach a team of three engineers: structure, standards, accountability. The Head of Operations wants someone who can grow into formal management, and the path is real, not a line in an advert. If you're the strongest engineer in your current team but nobody will give you the leadership chance, this is built for you. You'll stay hands-on. This is not a PowerPoint job. What you'll own The interesting problems are all live: tightening operational security (patching, vulnerabilities, access, audits), rebuilding confidence in backup and DR, putting proper monitoring and documentation in place, and helping the business take control back from suppliers so it stops paying for service it isn't getting. You'll have a direct hand in the cloud and platform strategy rather than inheriting decisions made elsewhere. What we're looking for Recent, real experience across both on-prem and Azure, including a migration you can talk through in detail. Experience mentoring or coaching engineers, and the appetite to make leadership your next move. Confidence to challenge, pragmatism to pick your battles. Exposure to Logic Apps, Data Factory or low-code tooling is useful but coachable. Would you like to learn more? The practical bits £55,000-£60,000. Hybrid: 2 days in the Coventry office, 3 remote. 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, with buy/sell. Pension, cycle to work, death in service, employee assistance and occupational health. On-call is currently 1 in 10 for P1s only, frequency is subject to be reviewed We are an equal opportunity recruitment company.
