We're seeking an experienced HR specialist to join our Lisbon office. This is a key position for us as we expand our team to hit our ambitious growth plan. Reporting to our HR Manager in London, the role will be responsible for day-to-day HR operations and act as a local HR contact and support for employees at ARC Lisbon office, covering a wide range of HR generalist areas such as handling employee relations, HR administration and compliance with local regulations, onboarding and offboarding, payroll coordination, L&D, performance management, and providing support for recruitment activities.


Responsibilities:

  • Act as a local HR contact for ARC employees, addressing concerns and supporting resolutions
  • Provide line managers with advice and support them on handling employee-related situations
  • Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring GDPR and local legal compliance.
  • Manage leave requests, absences, and maintain other personnel data through HR systems.
  • Ensure adherence to ARC-IDC's HR policies, in compliance with local Portuguese labour laws
  • Manage employee benefits programs, such as health insurance.
  • Assist with implementation of any new benefit schemes and Total Reward initiatives
  • Coordinate performance management processes, including annual reviews, in collaboration with local managers and Corporate HR.
  • Coordinate training and development programs for the employees, including the organization of legally required training, workshops and professional development opportunities.
  • Take ownership of the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring proper documentation, orientation, and a smooth integration into ARC-IDC.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary HR reports including data on staff turnover, employee engagement, and training metrics.
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager to align local HR practices with ARC-IDC's broader company objectives and corporate practices.
  • Support employee retention and engagement strategies tailored to the Lisbon team.


Who we're seeking:

  • Degree in HR Management, Law or other related, or non-related degree combined with substantial and relevant HR experience
  • Strong English and Portuguese language skills
  • 5-8 years of experience in an HR generalist role, preferably within professional services, architecture and design, or consultancy-focused environments.
  • Strong knowledge of core HR functions including employee relations, payroll, compliance, L&D and performance management.
  • Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: in-depth understanding of Portuguese labour laws
  • Experience ensuring compliance with local legislation, including GDPR.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience maintaining accurate employee records and HR administration.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the UK-based HR team.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach to HR challenges and improvements.
  • Experience with payroll systems and benefits administration.
