Freelance Senior HR Services Specialist - Germany Focus

German HR Operations | Labour Law | SuccessFactors | Atoss | Process Improvement

Global Enterprise Partners is supporting the HR Operations VP of a multinational organisation in securing an experienced Senior HR Services Specialist with deep expertise in German HR administration, maternity/paternity legislation, contract management, time & attendance, and HR process optimisation.

This is a short-term contingent role to help stabilize HR operations, reduce backlog, and strengthen the team's understanding of German HR specifics, ideally within a retail environment. The focus is on hands-on support in complex cases and bringing clarity to processes that currently slow down operational delivery.

Key areas of attention include mainly, but not solely: time & attendance, onboarding, maternity/paternity, and shop/employment changes. The role will help unblock day-to-day operations, support the HR operations team with practical guidance, ensure proper case handling and closure, and improve consistency in execution. In parallel, the person will review and streamline existing procedures and work instructions, driving efficiencies and building stronger confidence within the team on local HR topics.

Key Responsibilities

German HR Operations Delivery
  • Lead the execution of complex and sensitive HRlifecycle processes for Germany, including:
    • Maternity, paternity & parental leave
    • Contract creation, amendments, promotions & terminations
    • Onboarding & offboarding
    • Time & Attendance (incl. Atoss or Plenzeit)
  • Ensure full compliance with German labour law, company policies, and internal controls.

HR Systems & Data Accuracy

  • Ensure high accuracy and data integrity in SuccessFactors and related HR systems.
  • Support audits, quality checks, and operational reporting as required.

Operational Expertise & Team Advisory

  • Act as a consultant to the HR Operations team, offering guidance and expert knowledge.
  • Support team members in handling complex German HR cases and escalations.
  • Provide training, coaching, and clarification on HR processes and legal requirements.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Review current work instructions and process documentation; identify gaps and improvements.
  • Recommend more effective or streamlined ways of working.
  • Support HR transitions, change initiatives, and small-scale HR systems/process upgrades.

Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration

  • Work closely with HR leadership, payroll/insurance providers, and external partners.
  • Ensure smooth, compliant, and timely resolution of operational topics.

Requirements

Must-Have

  • 5+ years of experience in German HR administration
  • Strong knowledge of German labour law, especially maternity/paternity
  • Experience with Atoss or similar time & attendance systems
  • Strong operational experience with contract management & onboarding
  • Ability to advise, coach, and support HR colleagues
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Fluent German & English
  • Tech-savvy and hands-on approach

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with SuccessFactors
  • Background in Retail environments
  • Experience in shared services or multinational organisations
  • Exposure to process improvement or small project coordination
