Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day HR operations for the London office, acting as the primary HR point of contact for Partners and managers.
  • Provide expert, pragmatic advice on employee relations, performance management and UK employment law.
  • Lead, coach and develop a small local HR team - including an HR Senior Specialist and HR Assistant - creating clear development pathways, building confidence and capability, and fostering a high-quality, client-focused service.
  • Handle complex ER matters including grievances, disciplinaries and conflict resolution.
  • Oversee onboarding, talent development, L&D, succession planning and employee engagement.
  • Manage compensation and benefits benchmarking, right-to-work compliance and skilled worker visa processes.
  • Support organisational change, workforce planning and the ongoing rollout of firm-wide people initiatives.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and maintain HR policies, procedures and systems (Workday).
About You
  • Proven HR Manager or HRBP experience within a law firm environment.
  • Strong, current knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
  • CIPD Level 5 or above (or equivalent experience).
  • A confident, credible communicator able to influence and push back at Partner level.
  • A genuine people developer - someone who invests in their team, builds capability at every level, and brings out the best in junior colleagues.
  • Experience with cross-border or US-headquartered firms is a distinct advantage.
