Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join an established engineering company delivering design, construction and commissioning services across the power and multi-utility sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional with strong PSDP and Environmental experience to play a key role in ensuring high standards of safety, compliance and environmental performance across a diverse range of projects.

Job Description
  • Provide expert health and safety advice and support across engineering, construction and commissioning projects.
  • Act as PSDP (Project Supervisor Design Process) where required, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and project requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage health and safety activities throughout the design and project lifecycle.
  • Review and contribute to design risk assessments, risk registers, method statements and other project safety documentation.
  • Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety observations across project locations.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with company health and safety standards.
  • Lead and support incident, accident and near-miss investigations, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers, engineers, supervisors and site teams on health and safety matters.
  • Develop, review and maintain project-specific health and safety plans and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation, regulations and industry best practice.
  • Support the development and delivery of toolbox talks, safety briefings and training initiatives.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across all levels of the organisation.
  • Provide environmental advice and support across projects, ensuring environmental requirements and controls are effectively implemented.
  • Monitor environmental performance and assist with environmental inspections, audits and compliance assessments.
  • Support the management of environmental risks associated with construction and engineering activities.
  • Liaise with clients, designers, contractors, statutory bodies and other stakeholders on health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of the company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems.
  • Prepare health, safety and environmental reports, statistics and performance updates for management and clients.
Requirements
  • Relevant third-level qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Recognised professional health and safety qualification.
  • Significant experience working in a Health & Safety Advisor / Senior Health & Safety Advisor role within engineering, construction, utilities, energy or infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable experience acting as or working closely with a PSDP.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and construction safety requirements.
  • Proven experience in risk assessment, safety inspections, auditing and incident investigation.
  • Experience working on complex engineering, construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience within the power, utilities, energy or multi-utility sectors would be highly advantageous.
  • Practical understanding of design risk management and the principles of safe design.
  • Environmental management experience, with a good understanding of environmental compliance and construction-related environmental risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels.
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while also operating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks and driving continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Experience with relevant Health & Safety and Environmental management systems and standards would be an advantage.
