This is an exciting opportunity for a geologist to develop technical and consulting skills while working alongside an experienced, multidisciplinary group supporting clients across the mining and minerals sector. Based within one of SLR's UK offices, you'll contribute to a wide range of projects involving geological modelling, mineral resource evaluation, quarry and mine planning support, due diligence studies, and broader technical advisory work for global quarrying and mining clients.With our move to hybrid working, combined with our collaborative 'one team' culture, location is flexible for this role. However, our preference is that you would be within commuting distance of either our Leeds, Nottingham or Bristol offices. The role As a Senior Geologist, you'll play an active role in delivering high quality geological inputs, supporting junior team members, and developing your own professional capability. This key role requires close collaboration with the senior members of the team, with technical specialists in other disciplines and clients. You'll manage project budgets, schedules, and contracts, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with client and regulatory requirements. You'll provide hands-on project management, including the development of technical working plans, reserves and resource reports, lead and coordinate site investigations, laboratory testing programs, and project specifications. The position may involve site work which will involve working on sites away from home.You will also have opportunities to participate in Business Development and networking activities to promote SLR and the Mining Advisory Team to new and existing clients. About you We're looking for applicants with strong analytical and organisational skills, and an enthusiasm for applied geology in a commercial context. In order to succeed, we'd envisage that you would be able to demonstrate: 4yrs plus experience in a comparable role; University Degree (or equivalent) in Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Science or similar; Soil/Rock logging to BS5930; Practical knowledge of relevant UK /European quarrying and mining regulations and relevant planning legislation and guidelines; Experience in designing, supervising and managing site investigations; Exposure to preparing fee proposals for mining or quarrying projects; Expertise in geological modelling software such as Leapfrog, Surpac, or Python; as well as design software, such CAD, ArcGIS, or QGIS; Familiarity with the three-dimensional modelling of mineral quality utilising geostatistical analysis and block modelling would be advantageous; Capability to develop phased quarry design schemes in three dimensions; Project management skills; Team and stakeholder/client management skills; Chartered or working towards chartership through a professional institution; and, Full UK driving license.
