Job Description

We're currently working with a top-tier Legal 500 firm based in Oxford that's seeking an exceptional Senior Family Associate. This is a standout opportunity for a family law specialist looking to take their career to the next level within a firm known for its excellence, innovation, and supportive culture.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert legal advice and representation in complex family law matters, including divorce, child custody, financial settlements, and pre-/post-nuptial agreements.

  • Manage a caseload of high-value or sensitive family law cases with minimal supervision.

  • Supervise and mentor junior associates, paralegals, and support staff.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents such as consent orders, financial agreements, and court pleadings.

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediation, and arbitration.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of family law legislation, case law, and procedural rules.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, offering empathetic yet pragmatic legal solutions.

  • Support business development initiatives, including networking, attending industry events, and contributing to legal publications.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.

The successful candidate:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 5 + years PQE in family law.
  • Proven experience handling complex and high-value family law cases independently.

  • Strong knowledge of family law, including divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements, cohabitation disputes, and domestic abuse cases.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships with sensitivity, professionalism, and discretion.

  • Supervisory or mentoring experience, supporting junior legal staff or trainees.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of organisation and ability to manage multiple cases effectively.

  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business development.
