Senior Estimator

Location: Banbridge, Co. Down
Hours: 38 per week (Mon-Thurs 8:00-5:00, Fri 8:00-3:00)
Salary: Competitive, DOE
Reporting To: Estimating Lead

A leading organisation in the UK and Ireland's building services sector is seeking a talented Senior MEP Estimator to join their expanding Commercial Team. The company specialises in the design and delivery of innovative, sustainable, and low carbon solutions for commercial, industrial, and public sector projects.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical estimator to play a key part in delivering large scale decarbonisation projects, including district energy networks, heat pump installations, and fully integrated energy centres.

The Role

As Senior MEP Estimator, you will be responsible for developing accurate, detailed costings for a wide range of mechanical and decarbonisation projects. Working closely with preconstruction, design, contract management, and supply chain teams, you will help shape competitive tenders and support successful project delivery from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review client information and collaborate with internal teams to determine the most suitable estimating approach.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and design documentation to develop detailed material and labour take offs.
  • Input data into estimating software and internal budget templates.
  • Work closely with the commercial team and contractors to assess labour requirements and prepare associated costings.
  • Lead the development of enquiry packages, including technical scope documentation, for MEP and builder's works.
  • Manage supplier/subcontractor engagement to secure competitive quotations and prepare commercial comparisons.
  • Conduct commercial and performance evaluations for plant and equipment options.
  • Produce high quality budgets, BOQs, and pricing breakdowns using advanced Excel skills.
  • Attend site visits and meetings with design and preconstruction teams, both pre and post award.
  • Carry out final commercial reviews before submission to ensure full alignment with the project scope.
  • Support handover processes and contribute to internal post award review meetings.
  • Perform additional estimating tasks as requested by management.
What You'll Need Essential Criteria
  • Third level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical estimating, covering high level budgets through to full tender submissions.
  • Strong understanding of labour, plant, materials, and equipment rates.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documents to complete precise take offs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and awareness of commercial conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to take ownership of your workload, support team development, and thrive in a fast paced environment.
