Job title: Senior Engineer - Systems - Future Business & Technology

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on qualifications and experience

What you'll be doing:

Applying a breadth of knowledge, skills and experience of engineering and company approaches, techniques and governance to develop future Manufacturing Technology projects associated with the design and build of naval ships

Selecting and developing candidate technologies for the manufacture of naval ships covering product and delivery solutions

Undertaking peer reviews or checking / verification of tasks as directed and working independently under limited technical direction

Developing and implementing plans to on-board a new technology, undertake relevant qualification testing and generate evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, regulatory and legislative requirements, and safety as applicable

Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed

Providing realistic project status, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans

Your skills and experiences:

A highly experienced engineer, has a breadth of engineering knowledge & experience

Experience of manufacturing within Ship building

Professionally qualified with working knowledge and experience in own discipline, or has advanced and specialised technical expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable work experience

Has business awareness, especially with small and medium size enterprise companies and builds strong working relationships with stakeholders

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The BAE Systems Naval Ships Future Business and Technology team:

This role will play a pivotal role in the early stage of the design lifecycle, identifying and evaluating new technologies with the potential to transform Naval Shipbuilding. The role holder will utilise theoretical engineering knowledge, experience, and skills to develop technologies for future products, services, specifications, designs, and developments. The role holder will also resolve a range of engineering issues and problems, compile technical reports and accompanying presentations to present Technologies as mature solutions for Engineering to select in the ship design.
