Senior Electronics Test Technician

Aberdeen | Onsite | Permanent | Up to £45,000 (DOE)

A specialist technology company in the energy sector, developing wireless communication, signal-processing and high-reliability electronics for extreme environments, is looking for a Senior Electronics Test Technician to join its team in Aberdeen.

This is a hands-on senior role for someone who enjoys ownership. You'll lead projects on your own initiative, solve problems where there isn't always a ready answer, and help create the test procedures the team will use going forward.

What you'll do

  • Lead the build, test, maintenance and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment and systems
  • Build and test electronic boards, assemblies and tools to meet production schedules
  • Write and develop test procedures, parts lists and documentation from scratch, working closely with the engineering team
  • Support R&D engineers with prototype equipment for experimentation and test
  • Maintain accurate records for downhole tools and surface equipment
  • Advise on spares, consumables and equipment requirements
  • Work professionally with external stakeholders on projects
  • Travel occasionally to support equipment overseas

What you'll bring

  • HNC in Electronics or equivalent (HND or degree advantageous)
  • IPC or equivalent high-reliability soldering and electronic assembly training
  • Excellent soldering and PCB wiring skills
  • Experience with high-reliability products, eg defence, aerospace, oil & gas, medical or space
  • Strong fault finding and repair skills at board and component level
  • Confidence working independently, using your own initiative to take projects forward
  • Excellent written communication: you'll be writing procedures others rely on

Nice to have

  • Experience maintaining or manufacturing downhole tools
  • C/C++ or Visual Basic

Why apply? You'll join a small, innovative team where your work has real impact, with the chance to shape how testing is done rather than just following existing procedures.
