The CompanyThis international engineering contractor delivers complex electrical, mechanical, data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, and power infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe. With a substantial pipeline of secured projects and continued growth across the business, they are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join their Dublin commercial team and support the successful delivery of major engineering projects.
The RoleThis is a senior commercial role offering full ownership of the commercial lifecycle of major electrical projects from tender award through to final account. Working closely with Project Managers, Planning Engineers, Commercial Managers, and Project Delivery Teams, you will be responsible for protecting project margins, managing change, controlling costs, and ensuring accurate commercial reporting throughout project delivery. This role would suit an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being embedded within project teams and influencing key commercial decisions rather than simply reporting on them.
Must Have Requirements- Must have a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Must have 5+ years' experience as an Electrical Quantity Surveyor or Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor.
- Proven experience managing the commercial delivery of electrical projects is required.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and stakeholder management ability.
- Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, commercial, or power project experience preferred.
- Experience working with an M&E contractor or engineering services contractor beneficial.
- Knowledge of planning, scheduling, and project controls advantageous.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and commercial reporting functions.
- Electrical trade background.
- Experience on large-scale European projects.
- Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, or bespoke contract forms.
- Experience mentoring junior commercial team members.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, BOQs, profit plans, forecasts, and commercial reports.
- Lead interim commercial meetings with clients and internal project teams.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
- Issue accurate interim and final account submissions in accordance with contract requirements.
- Manage project variations, remeasures, dayworks, and commercial claims.
- Identify commercial risks and escalation issues to senior management where required.
- Work closely with Planning Engineers to keep programme and commercial reporting aligned.
- Cost and agree site changes, subcontractor remeasurements, and variation orders.
- Maintain detailed and accurate commercial records throughout project delivery.
- Provide commercial support and reporting to Project Managers and senior leadership teams.
- Negotiate commercial matters with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and information security requirements.
You understand the commercial heartbeat of a project and know how to protect profitability while supporting successful project delivery. You are commercially astute, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. You are comfortable working directly with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and senior management and can confidently communicate the commercial position of a project at any stage of delivery.
