Overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a well-known Facilities Management organization. The role offers full remote working or office-based work in London, Manchester, or Cambridge. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly within energy projects focusing on BESS, electrolytic hydrogen, and PV systems, contributing significantly to the UK's decarbonization efforts.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, your main duties will include:

  • Leading electrical system design for energy projects, including HV/LV distribution, protection schemes, and control systems
  • Developing single-line diagrams, protection studies, and detailed design drawings
  • Performing power system studies such as load flow, fault analysis, and stability assessments
  • Preparing and reviewing electrical specifications and vendor documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with UK grid codes, G99, and relevant standards
  • Supporting tender process and contractor evaluation
  • Conducting site inspections to uphold safety and quality standards
  • Acting as Electrically Authorised Person (EAP) and training others as needed
  • Overseeing commissioning activities and reviewing documentation
Candidate Requirements

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) preferred
  • Authorised person HV/LV qualification or similar preferred
  • Significant experience in electrical system design, especially in BESS and hydrogen projects
  • Strong background in HV systems and UK grid compliance
  • Experience with factory testing, inspection, and commissioning protocols
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software
  • Knowledge of electrical CAD software
  • Understanding of IEC 61850 and communication protocols
  • Experience with protection relay coordination and energy management systems
