Role description:As a Senior Ecologist, you will join our team of over 50 ecologists with extensive experience in ecological surveys, assessments, and providing advice on soil, land use, hydrology, sustainable drainage, arboriculture, ecosystem services, natural capital, biodiversity strategies, and cultural heritage. We have completed over 2,000 projects across the UK, Europe, and beyond for both public and private clients.
Within our Environmental team, your work may involve protected species, pollution, surface water, materials management, air quality, or noise, in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.
Current projects include urban and greenfield residential developments, highway and rail schemes, power stations, electrical and gas infrastructure, for clients such as EDF Energy, National Grid, Environment Agency, Transport for London, Highways England, Network Rail, Canal and River Trust, and Housing Associations. We are also engaged in international work through Environmental, Social, and Health Impact Assessments and our natural capital community of practice.
Role accountabilities:This role focuses on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). Reporting to the Team Leader, you will coordinate and complete assigned tasks and projects, lead small projects to meet deadlines, budgets, and SHEQ standards, and manage ecological aspects of client relationships to exceed expectations. You will lead small to medium-sized projects, providing direction, technical advice, and leading by example.

Qualifications & Experience:- Proven experience with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) projects
- Project management skills for small to medium projects
- Knowledge of ecological principles, legislation, policies, and guidance
- Specialist knowledge in certain plant or animal groups and field survey skills
- Experience in habitat assessment from plant communities
- Strong reporting skills, including preparing PEAs, BNG assessments, EcIA, and Environmental Statement chapters
- Basic experience with Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA)
- Experience in bid production and client interaction
- Ability to lead surveys and manage survey teams
