Job Description

Opportunity:

Are you an experienced Ecologist looking for a new role or a step into a more senior position? Are you passionate about promoting sustainability within ecological practices? If so, this new Senior Ecology Consultant role could be be suitable for you. Our client is an award-winning environmental consultancy that, due to their success last year, is expanding their ecology teams across the UK. As the Senior Ecology Consultant, you will support projects, ensuring high-quality service delivery while protecting biodiversity. The client works across sectors including energy, carbon, property, sustainability, and environmental impact assessments. This role is open to multiple applicants and offers locations in London, Manchester, Sheffield, and potentially Leeds, with a hybrid working model.

Responsibilities:

  1. Produce and review reports and assessments such as PEAs, BNG, BREEAM ecology credits, and protected species reports.
  2. Conduct and assist with UKHabs surveys, PEAs, and Bat surveys.
  3. Mentor and support junior ecology team members.
  4. Engage with clients and stakeholders, including attending meetings as a professional contact.
  5. Perform BNG mapping using QGIS and calculations with the Biodiversity Metric.

Requirements:

  • Associate CIEEM member; full or chartered status is advantageous.
  • Strong botany skills, with either ownership or ability to work at FISC level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in producing reports such as BREEAM ecology reports, EcIAs, HRAs, BNG, and PEAs.
  • Proficiency with QGIS and COREO for mapping tasks.
  • Possession of at least one protected species license, with Bat licenses being particularly desirable, and familiarity with license applications.
