About the role

Could you use your engineering expertise to help shape safe, sustainable and high quality infrastructure for the Isle of Man?

As Senior Drainage Design Engineer, you'll take the lead on designing and delivering projects across highways, structures and drainage, creating practical, innovative solutions that meet technical and safety standards while providing real value for the community.

Day to day, you'll develop detailed designs, manage project delivery within the annual programme, and represent the Department at meetings with stakeholders, statutory bodies and external partners. The position also includes supervising and mentoring Graduate Engineers and Technicians, contributing to continuous improvement, and supporting effective resource and financial management. Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential, as you'll work closely with colleagues across government, contractors, consultants and members of the public to progress projects efficiently and collaboratively.
