Senior Design & Proposal Engineer

*Fire & Security Design Engineer (Proposals & Systems) - 2 years - Netherlands (Hybrid).*

RED is currently seeking a Senior Fire & Security Design Engineer to support a key client delivering building safety and automation systems across industrial projects.

This role combines hands-on engineering with design and proposal responsibilities, focused on fire alarm and evacuation systems. You will play a key role in assessing incoming requests, validating technical requirements, preparing proposals, and supporting delivery through to implementation.

The initial contract will be for 12 months, with scope for extension for overall project duration of 2 years.

This contract is to start ASAP and will be hybrid, with on-site presence required in Utrecht (approx. 2-3 days per week).

Specific skills/experience required:

• 5 years of experience working within design, installation, or engineering of safety systems
• Strong overall IT/technical experience, particularly within building technologies or industrial systems
• Solid hands-on experience with fire alarm and evacuation systems
• Experience working with installation, commissioning, configuration and system calibration
• Understanding of Dutch regulations and standards (NEN) is highly desirable
• Exposure to technologies such as Bosch, Siemens, Protec, or Hacousto
• Experience delivering industrial or small-to-medium sized projects
• Ability to support proposal creation, cost calculations, and basic system design
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience interacting directly with customers and internal teams
• Practical knowledge of installation processes and system operations
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch (mandatory) and English
• Able to join within short notice (up to 1 month from offer)

Additional overview:

• The role is execution-focused, with some involvement in design and proposals
• Responsibilities include reviewing incoming requests, validating requirements, preparing proposals, and supporting handover to delivery teams

• Full-time position (40 hours per week) with limited travel requirements
