Job Description
Senior Data Scientist - Scientific Data & Insight, Safety & Surveillance 
Full time, permanent, based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E14 4PU.
Hybrid working model: minimum 8 days per month onsite.
What's the role?Lead a team of data scientists developing and applying advanced analytics, machine learning, AI and simulation methods to support product safety and surveillance.
Key Responsibilities- Line manage and lead a team of device data researchers and data scientists in applying analytical methods to patient data collected through vigilance systems.
- Support implementation of new analytical approaches to interrogate incident reporting data, including automated analytical tools.
- Collaborate across the Agency and with external stakeholders to optimise device data quality.
- Work with vigilance scientists, developers and epidemiologists to optimise reporting systems and apply machine learning where appropriate.
- PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- Leadership experience in developing and managing data science teams.
- Strong experience with machine learning or data science on large datasets.
- Expertise in at least one domain: mathematical modelling, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, Bayesian inference.
- Proficiency in R, Python, or Julia for data analysis.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary data science teams.
- Experience implementing AI/ML solutions in regulated environments.
- Proficiency in scalable data analysis, high performance computing.
- Experience writing grant proposals (desirable).
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
