Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Migration Engineer to support a global pharmaceutical organization with the integration of a recently acquired business into its R&D technology landscape.

The consultant will lead the migration of a biomarker data platform from an open-source Linux environment to an enterprise Red Hat Linux and Microsoft SQL Server platform. The role will focus on platform assessment, environment rebuilds, database migration, data integrity, auditability, and technical delivery while working closely with infrastructure teams and a dedicated CSV consultant.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the current biomarker data platform and application architecture.
• Rebuild and deploy application environments on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Lead database migration activities to Microsoft SQL Server.
• Analyse and reproduce existing application deployments from GitHub-based configurations.
• Ensure data integrity, metadata, traceability, and audit trails are preserved throughout migration activities.
• Coordinate deployments across Development, Qualification, and Production environments.
• Work closely with infrastructure teams, database specialists, and third-party service providers.
• Support migration testing, validation activities, and qualification deliverables in collaboration with the CSV consultant.
• Develop installation documentation, deployment procedures, migration plans, and technical specifications.
• Identify and mitigate technical, operational, and data migration risks.

Required Experience

• 7+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Data Platform Delivery, or Data Migration projects.
• Strong Linux experience, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Strong experience with SQL databases and database migrations.
• Experience migrating applications between infrastructure platforms or technology stacks.
• Experience managing data migration activities in regulated or enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of data integrity, audit trails, metadata, and traceability.
• Experience working with GitHub, source control, and deployment automation.
• Ability to collaborate with infrastructure, QA, validation, and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Clinical Research, or Healthcare.
• Experience with biomarker, laboratory, clinical trial, or R&D data platforms.
• Knowledge of R, RStudio, or data transformation pipelines.
• Experience migrating open-source platforms to enterprise technology stacks.
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration and migration activities.
• Knowledge of GxP, GAMP5, CSV, ALCOA+, or regulated data environments.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, or DevOps tooling.
