Contract Type: Full-time

Office Location: Five Sigma Finance office, central London

Working Model: Hybrid

Salary: starting at £65k per annum - upper limit will be dependent on experience

In-office expectations: 4 days per week from the office - 1 working from home. After passing probation: 3 days per week from the office, 2 from home

Job Purpose

You will own and evolve our in-house data platform to support analytics, reporting, and automation for our technology platform and across the business. This role is central to ensuring high data availability, quality, and scalability as our company grows.

About The Role
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable frameworks for data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Develop and manage data infrastructure in collaboration with analysts and software engineers.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and performance across systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows and orchestration tools.
  • Support the analytics team by making data accessible and reliable.
About You

We are looking for a mid-senior data engineer, ideally with experience working in a start-up environment, accustomed to working independently and making quick decisions. Effective communication skills are essential due to close collaboration with the engineering team. We seek a keen problem solver, with an excellent eye for detail, comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Highly proficient in Python coding.
  • Experience with data pipeline development and management.
  • Hands-on experience with data processing tools such as Spark or ClickHouse.
  • Proficiency in Pandas or other DataFrame libraries.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow, Luigi, or Prefect.
