We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join us on a permanent basis. We need talented individuals to apply their software development and data engineering skills to solve data challenges supporting a major UK Government programme from various locations across the UK.

This position is a full-time, permanent role, and applicants must have (or be able to acquire) SC clearance. Ad-hoc travel may be required to various customer and Leidos sites.

THE ROLE

You will collaborate with data engineers, delivery managers, technical specialists, external partners, and customer teams to support the discovery, design, delivery, and operation of diverse data solutions. What will I be doing?

  1. Design and lead the implementation of data flows connecting operational systems, analytics, and BI systems.
  2. Build, maintain, and operate data environments and streaming systems.
  3. Debug, resolve, and optimize data processing and analytics issues.
  4. Proactively evaluate and develop tools and technologies to improve data analytics platforms.
  5. Architect and evaluate data analytics solutions.
  6. Lead database management efforts.
  7. Support development of data migration, integration, and processing processes.
  8. Assist in creating project plans, identifying risks, and developing mitigation strategies.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Experience configuring and using ETL platforms like SSIS, AWS, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience setting up and managing AWS or Azure data platforms and analytics services, including Power BI or Pentaho BA.
  • Experience working in an agile software development environment.
  • Ability to estimate task effort and identify dependencies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Python and its data, numerical, and machine learning libraries.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience with Hadoop and Jenkins.
  • Azure and AWS certifications.
  • Familiarity with Java.
