Job Description
A legal 500 law firm is seeking an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join their specialist Mental Capacity team. This award-winning team is ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners and is known for its expertise, collaborative culture and commitment to access to justice.Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a complex caseload of Mental Capacity Welfare matters in the Court of Protection
  • Conduct Community Care and related Judicial Review matters connected to Mental Capacity issues
  • Maintain meticulous compliance with all SRA, Lexcel, LAA and internal regulatory requirements
  • Provide high-quality advice, keep clients updated and maintain excellent case management records
  • Prepare accurate legal documents, pleadings, evidence and submissions
  • Supervise junior team members and contribute to their training and development
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and help build strong referral networks
  • Uphold the firm's professional standards and contribute to a supportive, high-performing team environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • UK Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
  • 6+ years' PQE with extensive experience in Mental Capacity law
  • Strong background in Health & Welfare Court of Protection matters
  • Good working knowledge of Mental Health law, Community Care law and Judicial Review
  • Experience with the Legal Aid system
  • Member of the Law Society Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation Scheme, or willing to work toward this
  • Excellent communication, client care and advocacy (advocacy experience welcome but not essential)
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality work
