Introduction to role
The UK engineering team is part of the global Vanderlande Engineering team, consisting of over 1000 engineers across various automated handling disciplines. We seek an Engineer passionate about designing and developing project solutions, capable of adhering to challenging standards, and committed to adding value for our customers worldwide.
Role Responsibilities
The role involves adhering to rules, systems, and protocols, with responsibilities spanning administrative, specialist, and technical tasks. The candidate should be dependable, organized, systematic, and a good communicator. Key responsibilities include:
- Review projects during the sales phase for compliance and translate the functionality into workable LLC designs within budget, collaborating with other disciplines.
- Advise Project Leader Engineering, Integration Manager, and Project Manager on technical and multidisciplinary issues.
- Create detailed designs based on system and controls architecture following VI work methods.
- Develop control applications, integrate into systems, and configure according to LLC standards.
- Perform pre-commissioning activities like I/O testing, cabinet functionality checks.
- Conduct commissioning tests such as functionality and capacity testing.
- Coordinate LLC integration with other systems and third-party equipment, including SCADA.
- Develop documentation, test, and validation plans (FAT, SAT) aligned with MTP and other disciplines.
- Execute in-house and on-site testing, supporting integration tests.
- Create detailed LLC project plans based on overall schedules.
- Report progress regularly to the Project Leader Engineering.
Role Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in LLC coding platforms like Siemens S7.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems such as WinCC and WebFactory.
- Experience in developing safety systems using platforms like Siemens S7-F, PILZ, and conventional methods.
- Ability to perform health and safety risk analyses at component and system levels.
- Understanding of material handling systems at a system level, with varying expertise levels.
- Familiarity with customer processes in relevant market segments.
- Knowledge of electrical components, cabinets, and field wiring.
- Experience with test strategies, methods, risk analysis, and relevant tools such as Quality Center, UFT/QTP, Jenkins, and emulation tools.
- Knowledge of material handling equipment like DOTM, RAW, ICS, ASRS, and loops.
- Understanding of business process automation (HLC).
