Job Description

A specialist energy services company in Aberdeen is looking to hire a Senior Contracts Engineer on a 12-month fixed-term basis. The role involves supporting contract negotiation, tendering, and supplier management across a range of operational and project scopes. Working closely with commercial and technical stakeholders, the successful candidate will help ensure contracts are executed effectively and deliver value throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading contract review, negotiation, and execution processes, including preparation of approval and handover documentation.
  • Supporting the development of contracting strategies for well abandonment programmes.
  • Managing the tendering, evaluation, and award process for key contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Drafting ITT packages and carry out commercial evaluations, including risk assessments.
  • Negotiating contractual terms in line with company principles to optimise value and mitigate risk.
  • Overseeing contractor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintaining strong supplier relationships through regular performance reviews and improvement initiatives.
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and contract variations.
  • Providing advice and support on contracting matters to stakeholders across the business.
  • Driving continuous improvement and cost efficiency through effective contract management.

About You:

  • Proven experience in oil and gas contracting, with a track record of value delivery, cost control, and risk mitigation.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Commercially astute, proactive, and confident working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and relationship-driven, with a focus on performance and continuous improvement.
  • Ideally qualified in law, quantity surveying or CIPS, and familiar with well operations, particularly abandonment.
