We are seeking a Senior Consultant who will play a key role in delivering high-quality consultancy projects that provide clear, commercially valuable insight to clients across the energy sector.

The role combines analytical expertise, client engagement and project leadership to support strategic decision-making for organisations operating in complex and rapidly evolving energy markets.

Senior Consultants lead and contribute to consultancy engagements from project design through to delivery, ensuring work is completed to a high professional standard, on time and within scope. They translate complex market, regulatory and commercial developments into clear analysis and actionable recommendations for clients.

The role also contributes to the growth of Cornwall Insight's consulting services by identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships, supporting the development of new consulting propositions and representing the company within the wider energy industry.

Working collaboratively across Cornwall Insight's analysis, modelling and consulting teams, the Senior Consultant brings together internal expertise to deliver integrated insight that helps clients navigate the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities Consultancy Delivery

Lead and support consultancy engagements, ensuring projects are delivered to a high professional standard, meeting client requirements, timelines and budget expectations.

Develop robust analytical outputs and translate complex quantitative and qualitative analysis into clear insight and recommendations for clients.

Ensure high-quality written and visual outputs including reports, presentations and briefing materials that communicate complex topics clearly to a range of audiences.

Client Engagement

Build trusted relationships with clients through professional engagement, clear communication and a strong understanding of their commercial and strategic priorities.

Present analysis and recommendations confidently to clients through meetings, workshops and formal presentations.

Support the development of long-term client relationships through consistent delivery of high-value insight and advisory support.

Business Development and Market Engagement

Support the origination of consultancy work through networking, industry engagement and collaboration with internal teams.

Contribute to proposals, thought leadership and market engagement activities that demonstrate Cornwall Insight's expertise.

Identify opportunities to expand client engagements or introduce additional Cornwall Insight services where relevant.

Energy Market Insight and Analysis

Conduct research and analysis across key areas of the energy market including policy, regulation, commercial models, network charging, flexibility markets and investment drivers.

Develop a strong understanding of emerging market developments and communicate their implications for clients.

Contribute to Cornwall Insight's broader insight base by sharing knowledge across teams.

Training and Knowledge Sharing

Support the delivery of public and bespoke training courses on the GB energy market where required.

Share knowledge internally to support the development of colleagues and maintain high standards across consulting projects.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Degree level education or equivalent vocational experience.

Significant experience working within the energy sector or a related consulting environment. Experience analysing energy markets, policy, regulation or commercial models.

Proven experience delivering analytical or advisory projects within commercially driven environments.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience presenting analysis or insights to clients or stakeholders.

Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex quantitative and qualitative information.

Ability to communicate complex technical or market concepts clearly through written reports, presentations and client discussions.

Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple project priorities.

Confidence presenting analysis and recommendations to internal and external audiences.

Collaborative approach to working across multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to build relationships and networks within the energy industry.

Strong initiative and self-motivation within a dynamic consultancy environment.
