The EFL is seeking a dedicated Senior Communications Manager - Commercial to join our Communications Team. The role will support the EFL's strategic PR initiatives, focusing on our Commercial side and Partners.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head of Public Relations, the Senior Communications Manager - Commercial will help execute the annual strategic PR plan for the EFL, emphasizing commercial interests and contributing to overall communications strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Head of Public Relations and the broader Communications and Commercial Teams to manage the narrative and promote the EFL, its Member Clubs, and associated charities through media coverage across various platforms (broadcast, digital, print) regionally, nationally, and internationally.
- Develop and maintain relationships with broadcast partners domestically and internationally.
- Support all PR, media, and communication activities related to the commercial side of the organization.
- Lead the development and execution of PR and commercial partner activations in partnership with colleagues, partners, and agencies.
- Assist the Commercial Team with PR and communications for fan engagement and marketing initiatives such as Fantasy EFL.
- Coordinate with external agencies, prepare briefs, and provide support as needed.
- Contribute to internal communications to keep departments informed about commercial activities.
- Engage with member Clubs to brief them on commercial and campaign activities.
- Identify media targets and objectives, monitor coverage, and ensure effective measurement of campaign success.
- Prepare comprehensive reports with key metrics and results.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists across various levels and sectors.
- Manage stakeholder communications regarding the EFL's commercial activities.
- Support and develop team members and colleagues on communication matters related to commercial activities.
- Plan and execute PR strategies for partner events to promote the EFL positively to fans and partners.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING
- Proven experience in a similar senior role within a high-profile organization with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness, preferably with PR agency experience.
- Experience within the sports industry is advantageous.
- Extensive media contacts and relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of the EFL, its clubs, and the broader football community.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in developing and implementing communication strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging internal and external audiences.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience and training.
